President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), Dr Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso 1 says more needs to be done to protect vulnerable groups and the underprivileged amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Presenting assorted items to the Awutu-Bawjiase Children’s Welfare Home, in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of Kinapharma Limited, president of the Chamber told Joy Business; “even though corporate Ghana is doing very well in donating to the COVID-19 Trust Fund, we must also pay attention to the vulnerable in the society like these orphans here.”

The items, worth over GH¢ 10,000 include bags of rice, gallons of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, some medicines from Kinapharma among other groceries.

On their part, Kinapharma donated an amount of GH¢5,000.00 to the Home for the renewal of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) of all children and caretakers of the Home.

“We were here somewhere last year to join the president of the Chamber in making these donations. We registered these children onto the NHIS and this time around we are here to renew their insurance,” Executive Chairman of Kinapharma Limited, Nsiah-Poku, told JoyBusiness.

Receiving the items, Administrator of the Awutu-Bawjiase Children’s Welfare Home, Ernest Osei Owusu stated the home was open to more support amid the Coronavirus.

“As we are in a serious crisis, we a vulnerable and we would want to make a passionate appeal to Corporate Ghana to come to our aid and support us protect these children,” Ernest Osei Owusu said.

The Country-side Children’s Welfare Home is a privately owned Orphanage home located in Awutu-Bawjiase in the Central Region with over 120 children. The Home has accommodation, school and sporting facilities for the children.
