Over 50 people have been rendered homeless after the heavy rainfall over the weekend destroyed over 20 houses in Kwasu, a farming community in the Tano South Municipal of the Ahafo region.
Speaking to Adom News’ Augustine Agyapong, the affected residents called on government and other philanthropist to support them since they the rains destroyed most of their properties.

Recounting the incidence, they said if not for timely intervention, they would have lost their lives when their buildings collapsed.
They stressed that the destruction has had an excruciating effect on their lives.

“As I speak to you I am not wearing slippers, the rains has destroyed and carried away everything I own. So I am suffering,” one victim said.
Another added, “we have not had any place to sleep since yesterday. So we call on the Member of Parliament, government agencies to help us, because right now we don’t have the means to take care of our families.”

Meanwhile, Assemblyman for the Area, John Kwaku Yeboah said measures are underway to provide temporary shelter and relief items for the victims.
He, however, told affected victims to put up their permanent structures to ensure that social distancing and all the safety measures are adhered to amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
