Golden Star Bogoso Prestea Ltd, in the Western Region, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly at Bogoso to support the fight against Covid-19 in the company’s host communities.
The PPEs includes 179 boxes of disposable hand gloves, 62 boxes of N95 nose masks, 9 thermometer flash, 10 boxes of goggles, 10 boxes of hair cap, 72 shoe covers, 56 gallons of hand sanitizer and 63 gallons of liquid soap –
They were to be distributed to health facilities across the municipality, to boost the municipality’s preparedness towards the coronavirus pandemic.
Financial and Administration Manager Golden Star Bogoso Prestea Limited (GSBPL), Rodney Oddoye who led the team to present the items to the municipal health directorate, noted that the mine will continually support its host communities in the fight against Covid -19.
“The company consider it host communities as major stakeholders to it business and so we deem it timely and appropriate in the wake of this COVID – 19 pandemic to galvanize all these resources to support the fight against the disease.”
He also advised that people in the municipality avoid any form of stigmatization against people who have tested positive to the virus within the municipal when they are fully recovered and discharged.
Municipal Health Director Emmanuel Kofi Tamakloe expressed profound gratitude to the company and assured that the Municipal Health Directorate will put the PPEs to good use.
“We are grateful for this but just like Oliver twist we would want you to keep supplying us with PPEs especially the N95 nose mask.”
Dr Tamakloe hinted that the municipality has already recorded its fourth case of the virus and so he finds it funny when he hears people ask for evidence of those who have been infected.
“How can we make available pictures of those who have been infected to the general public, I don’t think those requesting for evidence would be happy if they were in the position of the victims,” he said
