The Swedru Divisional Police Command on June 4, 2020, arrested a suspect, Yaw Bintum popularly known as Budo for drug-related offenses in the Central Region.
Mr Bintum who, police say, has been on their wanted list for years was arrested at his residence at Gomoa Ogaakrom near Swedru with substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The police command says the suspect was part of a syndicate that engaged the police in a shootout that led to the death of two police officers at Winneba in 2015.
His arrest sparked wild jubilation at Gomoa Oguaakrom.
According to the locals, the suspect has been 'terrorising' them for years and his arrest and subsequent prosecution will bring some relief to residents.
Police say they had been on a manhunt for the suspect for a long time because of his involvement in many crimes that happen in the area.
Yaw Bintum is due to be arraigned in court on Friday.
