Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ejura Sekyeredumasi municipality in the Ashanti Region has donated ¢20,000 to support private schools teachers in the area.
Mohammed Salisu Bamba says it is part of plans to cushion the teachers who are currently not being paid following the closure of schools due to Covid-19 pandemic.
He said he has been in touch with the leadership of the private school teachers to find out the exigencies of time to express his solidarity.
"I have been in touch with about 120 private basic schools and feel it so good to come to their aid," he said.
The donation, he disclosed comes from his personal contribution to show gratitude efforts exhibited by the teachers to raise future responsible leaders.

The MCE encouraged the teachers not to relent but to keep giving their best to communities to change the narrative in the municipality.
"This is my widow's mite and I think it is a good start to get the teachers inspired to do more in this trying times," he said.
The teachers expressed gratitude and pledged to give their best.
Advocacy groups in the area who are championing the cause to get these teachers supported said their plea is not for MCE or MP among other people to pay salaries of the teachers.
But they want the municipality to show appreciation for the contribution private schools teachers make toward enhancing educational standard.
So far, some residents have been reached out to compliment the support of the MCE to achieve #PrivateSchoolsTeachersNeedKindness campaign.
Meanwhile, about 120 private schools in the area would be disinfected ahead of the resumption of classes. Each school will cost at least, ¢2,000.
Mr Salisu Bamba said the Assembly would do everything workable solution within its reach to support the schools.
