The Deputy Education Minister says his outfit will deal with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, for visiting some senior high schools (SHS) in the Ashanti Region to allegedly campaign.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum in an interview on GHOne, said the act by the Henry Nana Boakye aka Nana B was ‘unacceptable’, therefore, will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He indicated that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will probe the matter and sanctions will be meted out to him to serve as a deterrent to others who flouts the laws.
“If he went to classrooms is unacceptable, it’s totally unacceptable. It really doesn’t matter to me who you are; protocol is protocol, rules are rules. You don’t do that, [because] the rules are clear.
“I don’t think it’s acceptable for us to do what clearly the law says we should not do. This is not a political issue for me, to me, it’s an education issue, it’s a Covid-19 issue and I’ll bring it to the attention of GES, they’re the ones who run the schools,” he stated.
On Sunday, July 12, photos of Nana B and his team talking to some students went viral on social media.
It was reported that Nana B campaigned to some final year students of the Anglican Senior High School in a classroom although government has banned parents and guardians from visiting their wards.
However, Nana B has denied reports that he toured some senior high schools without permission to supposedly campaign for his party.
According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is just churning out “vile and fruitless” propaganda as that wasn’t the case.
