The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North Region has accused the Member of Parliament of Bia East Richard Acheampong of establishing a vigilante group ahead of the December polls.
The NDC MP, they said, is the sole founder of a vigilante group known as 'De Eye' and the financier for all their activities in Bia East district.
They also alleged that the mandate of the 'De Eye' group is to suppress dissenting opinions by attacking anyone who criticises or campaigns against the re-election of Richard Acheampong, the incumbent MP.
According to the NPP's Western North Regional Communication Director, Felix Foster Ackah the MP is eagerly creating and sponsoring vigilantism activities instead of focusing on securing infrastructures like hospitals, better schools, senior high school, motorable roads, communication network and job for the youth.
Mr Ackah, who addressed the press at a meeting at Adabokrom added that Richard Acheampong has constituted a clear breach of Sections 3(1)(a)(b) as well as 3(2) of the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act, 2019 (Act 999) which prohibit the creation of such group.
He is, therefore, calling for the said MP to be punished in accordance with the law.
