Residents of Nawuni in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region has called on government to relocate them to higher grounds where they will be safe from the annual flooding.
This call comes after some communities in the Northern, North East and Upper East experienced flooding due to due to the Bagre dam spillage.
A resident of the town, Sylvester bemoaned the effects of the disaster on their livelihood.

According to him, his household and other residents have lost everything adding that food to eat has become a huge problem.
Sylvester also noted that the flood aside its harsh effects has also caused reptile invasion.

Another resident, Yaa Adjei on her part said that she hasn’t changed clothes in one week, since the water carried all that she owned away.
She further revealed that four people have share a mattress at the school they have been temporarily lodged.
Meanwhile, the Kumbungu MP, Mohammed Mubarak has visited the community to support the flood victims with some relief items.

Speaking to JoyNews, Mr Mubarak revealed that the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Ghana, Meshal Al-Rogi, Stanbic Bank and other philanthropists have promised to also visit the flood victims and help them reconstruct their buildings for shelter.

He said, for the meantime, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador has donated a token of ¢5,000 as part of the effort to alleviate the impact of the flooding on residents.
Mr Mubarak then pledged that he will engage with the chief of Dalun and government on the matter of resettling the people.
This, he believed will completely solve the annual predicament residents have to endure due to the flooding.
