Kumasi-based Prempeh College once again showed their class to qualify to the quarter-finals of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) on Tuesday.
The four-time champions right from the first round exhibited what stuff they were made of by taking an early lead of 14 points against Ephraim Amarquaye and Obed Darko from Asanteman SHS' 11 points with St. Thomas Aquinas SHS trailing with 8 points.
There was no change in the positions when the Speed Race took off as Obeng Nana Twumasi and Kyei Eden Ankrah Ernest ensured that there was no looking back. It was a 'Catch me if you can' statement right from the onset.
With a comfortable lead, Prempeh College went for the jugular as it amassed more points to end the second round with 22 points followed by Asanteman SHS with 16 points as Godfred Osei Agyei and Randy Kenyah from St. Thomas Aquinas SHS ended with 6 points.
In the 'Problem of the Day' round, there was a bit of parity as all the three schools scored 3 marks from a possible 10.

When it got to the Riddles, although St. Thomas Aquinas had an early lead by answering the first three questions on the first clue. This shored up their marks but they woke up into the competition a day late and a dollar short as Prempeh College took over ringing the bell on the first clue to answer the 3rd and 4th riddles.

All too soon, it was the end of contest and St. Thomas Aquinas and Asanteman SHS were left licking their wounds as they exited the competition.
