The chief of Akyem Akroso, Nana Kwabena Ofori II is calling for massive support for the National Democratic Congress ahead of this year’s general election.
His endorsement for the opposition party, according to him, is as a result of what he describes as massive developmental projects undertaken in his area by the NDC when they are in government.
The chief, who openly endorsed the NDC said his area was underdeveloped until the NDC government changed their condition.
According to him ‘’every major development that has happened on my land can be traced to the NDC’’.
Nana Kwabena Ofori made this claim when the running mate to the NDC flagbearer, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of her campaign tour of the Eastern Region.
‘’The truth cannot be hidden so I will keep telling people the truth. On December 7, we are going to reward people according to the work they did here in Akroso,’’ he explained
While praying for the NDC, the chief appealed to Prof. Opoku Agyeman to build a tertiary institution for them, should the NDC be re-elected come December 7.
‘’It was Rawlings who established a secondary in this area. We didn’t have any second cycle school so many people couldn’t continue with their schooling. Prof I can only appeal to you for a tertiary school if you win this election because apart from the SHS we have no higher education facility here,’’ he appealed.
Professor Nanna Opoku-Agyeman on her part said the NDC, during the John Mahama-led administration proved that it can be trusted to develop the country.
According to her, the party’s manifesto does not promise heaven but practical progress.
Mahama's running mate has been campaigning in the region to garner votes for the opposition party in the run-up to the presidential and parliamentary elections.
