Saturday’s three hours heavy downpour in Accra and parts of the Central Region has caused a perennial mudslide on the Kasoa-Accra highway.
This has rendered a part of the stretch impassable raising serious concern among Kasoa residents and the travelling public on that stretch.
Any time it rains the water draws silt and mud and heap it on one side of the highway thus creating huge vehicular traffic as cars negotiate the road to avoid the mud.
With the Kasoa tollbooth causing a lot of traffic, the silt and mud makes the situation worse.
The current situation has forced motorists to use the opposite lane making driving on the stretch dangerous.
After months of complaints, the Ga South Municipal Assembly has put in place a temporary measure by hiring excavators to clear the road any time it rains.
In an interview with JoyNews, a resident Opanin Kwame Nkrumah Sarfo appealed to government to do something about the situation.
He said the highway is already traffic prone and dealing with silt and mud makes staying in Kasoa very stressful.
