President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo has sworn in members of the local organising committee for the 2023 Africa games.
The 13th edition of the Africa Games will be hosted by Ghana after been handed the rights in 2018.
The multisport event will be held in three cities across the country and will be the second time in history that the games will be decentralized in a process that started in the previous edition held in Morocco.
The committee is chaired by Dr. Kweku Ofosu Asare. Secretary to the 2016 NPP transitional team on youth and sports Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah is also on the committee as the chief operations officer.

The remaining members are Mr Reks Brobbey, Dr.Mrs. Beatrice Dwumfour Williams, Mr Dan Kweku Yeboah, Mr Ahmed Osumanu, Mr Ben Nunoo, Ms Eva Okyere and Ms Joyce Datsa.
Nana Akofu-Addo commended the sports minister Isaac Asimah for the work done to secure the rights to host the competition.
The president also announced the procurement of land to construct the necessary facilities for the games, among them a 50,000 capacity Olympic stadium complex, multi-purpose sports halls for all indoor sports, aquatic centre for swimming and tennis courts.
The president said the Olympic sports facilities will be converted into a university of sports for development. The Olympic stadium complex will thus have an administration block, hostel facilities, lecture and research facilities.
The president congratulated members of the committee and said he is confident in their ability to deliver a successful competition.
