The Senior Staff Association of the Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has stated that the strike action declared by the association have been suspended with immediate effect.
According to a statement released by the association on Tuesday, the call for strike action has become imperative in view of a court injunction presented by the National Labour Commission to the Association.
All local executives and members of the union are urged to resume duty per the directives of the Association.
"Accordingly, I direct all local executives and members of our great union to resume duty," the association indicated.
The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana declared an industrial action on Monday, October 19.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, the Association’s National Chairman, Abdul-Majeed Yussif explained that the strike action had been necessitated due to government’s insensitivity to heed to the plight of its members.
Mr Abdul-Majeed Yussif has stated that although the association has suspended its strike action, the national leadership remain resolute and would be in touch with relevant authorities that includes Ministry of Education, National Council for Tertiary Institution and the National Labour Commission to find solutions to the association's grievances.
He further commended members for their participation in exercises presented by the association.
"I wish on behalf of National Executive Council to thank our gallant members for the massive participation in this all important exercise," he stated.
