Another accident on the Kintampo-Techiman Highway in the Bono East Region has left one person dead and several others injured.
The accident which involved a single vehicle, a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number AS 8030-20 occurred at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Eyewitnesses said the bus was travelling from Techiman to Tatale in the Northern Region when it had a burst tyre around the Amomankwanta and Krutakyi stretch of the road.
Eyewitnesses who gave details said, because the driver was allegedly speeding, he was unable to control the vehicle when his rear tyre developed the fault.
This caused the bus to somersaulted and crashed into the side of the road.
Out of the 17 occupants in the vehicle, the driver escaped unhurt while a 34-year old woman died.
The 15 others who got injured have since been sent to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman and the Jema Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, this accident comes less than a month after the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Deputy Bono East Regional Youth Organiser, Nsiah Kojo died after a vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a head-on collision on the same Kintampo-Techiman Highway.
His accident also follows another one in March this year.
Adom News’ correspondent Wiafe Akenteng who was at the scene reported that a Yutong bus collided with a mini Sprinter bus causing both vehicles to go up in flames.
About 30 people were subsequently burnt to death.
