The Deputy Director for Clinical Services at the Northern Regional Health Directorate, Dr Braimah has revealed that no Covid-19 case was recorded in the region for a month.
Baba Abubakari said, the region recorded its last case in the early days of October.
He said this at the second Regional Coordinating Council review meeting with Metropolitan Municipal and Districts to take stock on progress they have made in running affairs.
The Regional Coordinating Council meeting has been established to ensure efficient and effective administration of the region.
It is also to offer the various stakeholders the opportunity to access development they have set to achieve and to make amends in areas they have not been able to achieved their targets.
Giving a breakdown cases recorded so far, Dr Abubakari said seven districts out of the 18 districts in the Northern Region recorded Covid-19 cases with many cases coming from the Tamale Metropolis.
He added that the region as of 5 pm on Friday, November 6, had recorded 547 confirmed cases with 13 deaths.
Dr Abubakari noted that 36 per cent of confirmed cases in the region were health workers who contracted the virus in the line of duty.
This, he said, prompted the Health Service to increase their activities on vigilance.
He also complained about people losing guard and not practicing the protocols.
“We just did some survey in Tamale Metropolis by visiting departments, the markets and schools and upon analyzing our findings what we had it not good” he said
Dr said the preliminary results showed a lot of places had veronica buckets without water, in some cases dirty water or no soap adding that even most of the health workers were not adhering to the safety protocol.
He, therefore, called on all to continue to observe the protocols and educate the public of the dangers.
