Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency, says corruption has become pervasive under the incumbent government.
According to Alhassan Suhuyini, rather than diminishing, the fight against the canker has rather "grown wings" under the Akufo-Addo-led government.
“A lot of people who thought President Akufo-Addo and his government were going to fight against corruption have come to the conclusion that corruption has grown wings and has become bigger and more pervasive under this government.”
Mr Suhuyini’s comment comes on the heels of the report from the Office of the Special Prosecutor indicting the former President, John Dramani Mahama as "Government official 1" in the Airbus bribery scandal.
The Special Prosecutor made this revelation as part of his observations in the corruption risk assessment report on the Agyapa Royalties deal.
However, the MP for Tamale North indicated that the NPP's supposed anti-corruption fight is mere propaganda and has no merit to it.
He indicated that Transparency International has rated the level of corruption in the Akufo-Addo administration higher than that of the Mahama-led administration.
"In fact, it is no longer just the perception of people or my suggestion or saying so, it is actually the position of the Transparency International, that this government's best performance as far as the fight against corruption is concerned is worse than the previous government's worst performance," he stated emphatically.
The former broadcast journalist stated that Mr Mahama has maintained his innocence in all the allegations and has challenged the NPP administration to prosecute him if he is indeed guilty of all the allegations of corruption levelled against him.
“Former President Mahama since after leaving office has challenged this government on countless number of times to prosecute him, to retrieve all the mansion they claim he bought in Dubai and all the ships...now they have very little to do than [to] just do the politics."
