The President has ordered Chief of Staff to remunerate Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu for services rendered during his two year tenure.
In a letter addressed to Martin Amidu, the Chief of Staff said President Akufo-Addo has acknowledged receipt of a letter conveying Mr Amidu's decision to resign and has accepted his resignation.
She added that "the President has directed me to ensure that all emoluments and benefits due you under law are paid to you accordingly.”
Amidu's resignation
Martin Amidu resigned on Monday as the Special Prosecutor.
In a four-paged letter, he outlined a number of issues, including allegations of interference with the independence of his office by the President.
He also stated that he and his deputy have not been paid or received any emolument that came with his appointment to the office since 2018.
Now, President Akufo-Addo has directed the Chief of Staff to clear the two-year salary arrears in addition to all emoluments due him.
Akosua Frema Osei-Opare added that the President has taken due note of the other matters raised in his letter, "and government will issue a statement responding to them in due course,” the letter said.
