Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama says the incumbent NPP government has no idea about the construction of the Tolon District Hospital.
According to him, the project, in addition to the uncompleted road network to connect the Tolon Constituency and Kumasi, is a legacy of his past administration.
"They have no knowledge of this hospital. I announced this hospital for the first time in Buipe in 2015 after we had secured the funding. There were four of these hospitals; we sent one to Buipe because from Kintampo all the way to Tamale, there was no hospital. And we put one here in Tolon Constituency," he noted.
His comments come after Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia commissioned the Tolon District Hospital on the last day of his three-day tour of the Northern Region, Monday, November 23.
Speaking at a rally at Tolon in the Northern Region, he stated that a debate between he and the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, is the best way to compare the record of the two governments, with respect to infrastructural development.
“The easiest way for us to have done the comparison was for us to have had a debate where we sit side by side, for us to tell all Ghanaians what our track record is. But he refused to come,” he said.
He added however that President Akufo-Addo's unwillingness to engage him in a debate will not stop him from effecting a comparison.
“In 2016 they had no track record, so it was about comparing the track record of NDC with the promises of the NPP. And it’s very difficult to compare reality with promises, because they came with a lot of sweet promises so Ghanaians decided to give them a chance, so they won the election.
"Everything Allah does is good because, after four years, they have a track record. So now we can compare the two-track records – reality against reality. We can compare the four years of John Dramani Mahama and the four years of Akufo-Addo,”.
