President Akufo-Addo has called on electorates to go out and vote with just one week to the general elections.
He told supporters of the New Patriotic Party to go out in their numbers on election day and vote, adding that every single vote is important for his re-election.
Addressing supporters of the party at Kwesimintim in the Western Region, the President also called on party faithfuls to reject independent candidates campaigning on the strength of the NPP.
His appeal follows several incumbent NPP MPs from the region who lost their seats in the primaries, going ahead to contest for the parliamentary seat independently, banking on the support of NPP sympathizers in their areas.
But President Akufo-Addo believes such candidates must be ignored.
“I have heard some rumours about voting skirt and blouse. We don’t want any skirt and blouse voting. My last request is that next week Monday when we go to vote, I plead with every eligible voter don’t sit at home. Some will say ‘Nana has won already so I don’t need to vote’ but if you haven’t voted, Nana has not won.”
Parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Dr Prince Hamid Armah said the government has also done so much in the last four years to deserve another term.
President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the Western Region follows his visit to the Mfansteman constituency in the Central Region for the burial of Ekow Hayford, the slain MP of that constituency.
There the NPP had called on constituents to vote massively for the party to retain them in office.
