The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the next Mahama administration will absorb the full school fees of all Ghanaian students who will be admitted to tertiary institutions during the 2020/21 academic year.
According to the party, this is in line with a recommendation by the Education Policy Group and has been incorporated into the party's 2020 Peoples' Manifesto and will be implemented if voted into power.
In a statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and sighted by JoyNews, the new policy has been termed “Fa Ninyinaa”.
"This policy is an enhancement of our commitment in the People's Manifesto to absorb 50% of the school fees of all tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year through the 'Kyemupe' policy, which will now apply to only continuing students in tertiary institutions in the country," the NDC explained.
The party also said the flagbearer and former President John Dramani Mahama will in due course, throw more light on the package for Ghanaian students.
