Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh has charged security officers to deliver on their mandate as expected on the election day.
Addressing members of the Election Security Taskforce comprising officers from the Fire, Immigration, Prison and Police services, Mr Oppong-Boanuh asked the personnel to be confident in order to achieve their objective.
He also urged them to uphold professionalism as they discharge their duties on Monday.
“Today we are making history and the eyes of the world and the country at large are watching us. Between now until December 7, we have dedicated ourselves to protect the citizens of Ghana and more importantly, to protect the ballot.
“Therefore, I urge all of you to put in your best, all us must be professional and put on the prescribe uniforms only, we must wear our armbands and make sure we report for duty at the appropriate time.”
“We are confident in you, that you are going to deliver. And when you go, please make sure you comport yourself. To the men, please close your zips,” he said November 4.
On his part, a member of the Election Media and Communications team, Supt Freeman Tettey reminded the officers of what it meant to stay professional at their respective posts.
He indicated that; “You are responsible for queue management, ensure that the social distancing is observed and proper mask-wearing in the queue. But do not take part in the administration of the election,” he said.
