President Akufo-Addo will tonight address the nation for the 23rd time on the novel coronavirus pandemic as the country’s cases surges.
He is expected to give updates on what measures his administration is putting in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has threatened to embark on a strike should government fail to impose restrictions on social gatherings.
Dr Justice Yankson in a recent interview stressed that already health facilities are “on their knees”.
He, therefore, reiterated calls for rigorous measures need to be implemented in order to curb the spike of the disease.

In a current update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), it reported that the country has recorded 797 new infections with 28 more persons succumbing to the novel coronavirus.
This brings the death toll to 405 and 4,665 active cases.
In his 22nd address, Akufo-Addo warned Ghanaians he will be forced to put the country under a lockdown if they fail to adhere strictly to protocols to curb the spread of the virus.
He tasked the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the officers of the Ghana Police Service ensure that people in public spaces wear their face mask or face coverings.
But some Ghanaians have turned a deaf ear to his plea and continued to disobey safety protocols.
This has since threatened the fight against the disease in the country.
