After a period of steady decline in active cases within the last quarter of 2020, Ghana has since seen a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases after the yuletide season.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the country's daily average of new cases stands at 600-700 representing 84.8 per cent of new cases reported.
In its latest report, GHS says more Ghanaians are succumbing to the deadly virus increasing the active Covid-19 cases to 6,938.
As of February 9, 10 more persons have reportedly died from the virus adding to the death toll of 482.

Meanwhile, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye who spoke at a press conference on mitigating the Covid-19 spread in Ghana, indicated that the Greater Accra Region remains the largest hotspot for Covid-19 cases recorded nationwide.
As it stands, the Greater Accra Region has recorded 3506 cases.
The Ashanti Region is the second highest with a total number of 1219 Covid-19 infections.
Meanwhile the Savannah Region has the lowest number of infected cases - a total 2.
So far all the 16 regions have recorded cases of Covid-19.
