The Minister-Designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Adwoa Safo says she hopes to impact the lives of the marginalized in society during her tenure at the ministry and leave behind a lasting legacy.
If confirmed as Gender minister, she promises to employ various initiatives that will change the living standards of the vulnerable and give them solace from the hardships of life.
The nominee made this known in response to a question posed to her by a member of the Appointments Committee on what she will offer as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
“Mr Chair, I would want to leave a legacy behind and this legacy I want to leave behind is that the Almighty God uses me as a tool like He used powerful women in the Bible like Deborah, like Esther to impact on the lives of many,” she added.
Touching on the issue of child trafficking, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome Kwabenya, indicated it was one of her topmost priorities and as such she will deal with those who flout the human trafficking law in accordance with the law.
"Human trafficking, I know that this House passed the Human Trafficking Act of 2005 that the Ministry is working with. We also have the Human Trafficking Prohibition Protection and Reintegration of Trafficked Persons Regulations of 2015. These are all legal frameworks within which to deal with the menace.
Adwoa Safo was the Former Deputy Majority Leader and Minister of State-in-Charge of Procurement in the first term of President Akufo-Addo’s administration and has now been nominated as the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
When given the mandate she will replace Madam Cynthia Mamle Morrison as the Gender, Children and Social Protection.
