The family of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings has paid a courtesy call on President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to thank him and the government for giving Mr. Rawlings a befitting burial.
The members of the family, led by Ambassador James Victor Gbeho included Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Col. Joshua Agbotui, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Yaa Asantewa Agyeman Rawlings, Amina Agyeman Rawlings, Madam Sefa Deenzer Agyeman, and the former aide to the late statesman, Kobina Andoh.
The longest-serving statesman died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on November 12, aged 73.
A four-day funeral ceremony, which started on Sunday, January 24, with a requiem mass service at the Holy Spirit Cathedral at Adabraka was held in his honour.
He was finally laid to rest at the new military cemetery in Burma Camp, Accra on Wednesday, 27 January 2021 after a well-attended burial service at the Independence Square.
The military observed a 21-gun salute in honour of the late Mr Rawlings, who was Ghana’s first President in the Fourth Republic
He left behind a wife and four children.
