Social media users have expressed mixed reactions regarding a decision by President Akufo-Addo on March 3, 2021, which retires the Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo from office.
Mr Akufo-Addo’s directive was in connection to claims by the Audit Service Board indicating that Mr Domelevo had on June 2020 reached his retirement age.
However, taking to social media, some Ghanaians have described the President’s move as one that erodes the anti-corruption fight while others are of a different view.
The former Auditor-General had proceeded on a 167-day accumulated leave, only to return to be greeted by news of his ineligibility in the country's workforce.

Dear Prof Dua Agyemang, if Domelevo retired in June, yet, you impressed on the President to force him to go on leave in July and you paid him all through for no work done, shouldn't you and your board be held for causing financial loss to the state? Whew!

Domelevo: So many people are overaged on the payroll. When the curtain falls, it's time to leave the stage; Ghanaians don't know that. They falsify birth Certificates so to remain below 60 years ..... pic.twitter.com/kSGu3gP1NE

No wonder that speech was one of the most embarrassing plagiarized speeches.
But how smelly is the rot that Domelevo cannot be allowed to work and retire in June?🤔 pic.twitter.com/NAp9vwTATA
Do u still need someone to tell u that @NAkufoAddo was the brain behind Domelevo’s age and nationality brouhaha?

Mr. Domelevo, God bless you for looking after the interests of the ordinary Ghanaian.
It cost you your job but you can take pride in that.
I had my concerns after you were appointed late in 2016 but you proved me wrong.
Sorry for judging you even before you took office 🤝 pic.twitter.com/kxikU3Ynl9— Reddington 🐐 (@drgyimah) March 3, 2021
In Feb. 2021, Audit service Board writes to Prez saying he should replace Domelevo because he was deemed retired. Heeerrr Ghana. I thought they said he would return after 165 compulsory leave days? So why is it that it’s always Ewes who get their nationality questioned in Ghana?

🇬🇭 I shouted 4 more 4 Nana though I wasn't really happy with Nana's fight against corruption looking at the end of Martin Amidu but chale the other options weren't convincing. 🤦♂️
