Public Relations, events and change management consultancy, Mahogany Consult, joins the world in commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD2021) via a parley with its founding partners.
The day celebrated annually on March 8, is dedicated to the celebration of women’s achievements in the social, economic, cultural and political spheres.
This year, the United Nation’s (UN) theme, “Women in leadership; achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world”, celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in the numerous steps taken in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the Covid-19 world.
Esi Asante Antwi, Founding Partner and Principal of Mahogany Consult in an interview with a seasoned journalist with The Multimedia Group, Araba Koomson, said Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on businesses and challenged leadership globally.
As a leader and entrepreneur, she said Mahogany Consult’s Covid-19 response strategy is hinged on three pillars; “We are particular about the health and wellbeing of our staff and, therefore, adhere strictly to all hygiene protocols in and out of the office.
"We have also restructured in-house to ensure the job security of our team as our way of supporting their livelihoods in the wake of job losses elsewhere and for our clients, providing strategic counsel to them as they also navigate the impact of Covid-19 on their business is a continuum”, said Mrs Asante Antwi.
“Additionally, we are constantly reviewing our Covid-19 recovery strategy as we hope and pray for a return to complete normalcy,” she added.
Baaba Cofie, Senior Consultant and Founding Partner at Mahogany Consult, stressed on the importance of industry learning.
She stated that the agency’s membership with and learning from the Public Relations Organisations International (PROI), a global network of Independent Public Relations firms, has tremendously guided their strategy development and aided in effectively leading their team to serve clients in their response and recovery efforts towards a Covid-19 free world.
“One key principle that underlies Public Relations practice is proactivity and we do not take that for granted.
"Prior to Ghana’s first COVID-19 case, we had the opportunity to learn the diverse strategies our PROI partner agencies were using in managing the effects of the pandemic, its impact on businesses, economies and the general wellbeing of the people. This greatly informed our actions for our team and our clients.” She said.
Established in 2012, the agency provides corporate communications consulting to many businesses, both local and international in different sectors such as FMCG, Banking and Finance, Health, Agriculture, Development Cooperation, Oil and Gas, Education, Mining, Technology and Not-for-Profit.
