A Sekondi High Court sentenced to death, two men for kidnapping and murder of four girls in Takoradi in 2018.
The family of the girls had varied reactions. Father of Priscilla Matsebea Koranchie, Alexander Kojo Koranchie and father of Priscilla Blessing Bentum, Francis Bentum insisted their girls are still alive and demanded former CID boss and the Police Service bring their children to them alive.
However, the grandfather of Ruth Abeka, Emmanuel Anzah Cobbina said he has no option than to accept the judgment of the court especially as he does not even know his granddaughter's whereabouts.
The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the election petition yesterday saying, it lacked merit.
The NPP described the victory as fair. But NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama disagreed with the judgment and took on the Electoral Commission (EC) accusing it of bias and demanded immediate reforms.
Ahead of the judgment though, justices of the Supreme Court cautioned the media and the general public to be circumspect in their discussion on that matter.
Vaccinations against Covid-19 started across the country with the president and his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo taking the first shot. The President assured the vaccines are safe.
The Vice President who also took the jabs with his wife asked Ghanaians to ignore all conspiracy theories about the vaccines and take theirs when the team gets to their community.
Some persons who had taken the jabs however started complaining of fever, headache and dizziness. The FDA continued to assure that the vaccines are safe and the side effects are normal, which will be felt for a few days.
The approval of ministerial nominees forced parliamentarians to sit deep into the night debating. In the end, the speaker announced they would resort to a secret ballot to determine the fate of three ministerial nominees who the Appointments Committee could not unanimously agree on.
They are, Fisheries and Aquaculture minister-designate Hawa Koomson, Information Minister designates Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Agric Minister-designate Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
At one point, Speaker Alban Bagbin had to suspend sitting for 10 minutes to resolve the misunderstanding over what constitutes majority decision as captured in the report by the committee.
The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo defied a directive by the audit service board forbidding him from returning to work because he was deemed retired.
The board wrote to Mr Domelevo challenging his nationality and age but he turned up anyway.
Hours after seeing his office perhaps for the last time, the presidency sent him a letter of retirement. This shocked some civil society groups which described the government’s actions as shocking, embarrassing and disappointing.
