Veteran rapper Reggie Rockstone was moved to tears after an Accra High Court sentenced actress Akuapem Poloo to 90 days in jail after she posted a nude picture with her son on Instagram.
The Hiplife Grandpapa said that he was praying and hoping the court would give a lenient sentence after she was convicted on Wednesday.
Reggie Rockstone in an Instagram post said the social media sensation does not deserve to spend that much time away from her son.
He stated that he was sad because he knows the struggles of being a parent and has seen many single mothers struggle to make ends meet for her and her son.
“It’s rough out here, that girl is trying, she is trying..have some empathy, have love in your heart, you need to have feelings,” Reggie Rockstone said.
Actress Akuapem Poloo, born Rosemond Brown’s conviction on Friday comes after she posted a naked picture with her son on Instagram celebrating his seventh birthday.
Handing her judgement, Christina Cann expressed discontent with the alarming rate with which nudity has become a thing in the country’s social media space.
The sentencing generated a lot of buzz with some school of thoughts claiming it is too harsh while others said she deserved it.
A UK-based Ghanaian journalist Fred Oduro-Sarpong believes the 90-day sentence handed Akuapem Poloo by an Accra Circuit Court for posting nude pictures of her son is very lenient.
“In my eyes, she should have gotten three years not three months. You do the crime, you do the time, however, long or short,” he said on Joy FM's Ghana Connect.
However, renowned Ghanaian poet Chief Moomen said the sentencing was harsh adding that the court cannot use the actress as a scapegoat.
