Traders plying their wares on ceremonial routes of Kumasi are back on the streets, a day after the Metropolitan Assembly commenced decongestion of the areas.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had requested the route to be cleared for use, especially as he marks his 22nd Anniversary on the Golden Stool.
On Monday most of the traders complied with the directive, however, the traders are back on the streets.
Some of the traders pleaded with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to evacuate them from the street since some of them have returned to the streets.
“We plead with them to evacuate us fully, if some of us leave the streets and the rest stay here, the patron will buy from those on the streets and our businesses will suffer,” one of the traders lamented.
The trader further added that, the roads should be properly constructed because people would not buy from them if the roads are bad.
A day after start of enforcement, traders are back to trade as usual.
According to the Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, task forces will be deployed on the ground to ensure that traders comply to the orders given.
However, due to poor parking and the activities of these traders, the pavements and streets were heavy with human and vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commemorated his 22nd year on the Golden Stool on Monday April 26.
