The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that persons who received their first doses on March 1 to 9 this year are due for their second dose, starting from Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

According to Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, "those who had their first dose from the 1^st to the 9^th March will be those that will be covered."

He made this known during an update to the nation on the steps government has put in place to ensure the effective administration of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccines nationwide.

He further revealed that his outfits is expected to complete the inoculations by Wednesday, May 26.

Dr Kuma-Aboagye was, however quick to add that "it's not really definite."

"We will just go on until all the 350,000 are vaccinated. And if we are able to get more vaccines immediately we will continue".

Earlier this month, Ghana received a total of 350,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine at the Kotoka International Airport in its objective to attain herd immunity.

The second batch of AstraZeneca vaccine forms part of a total of 1.3 million doses being redistributed via the COVAX platform.

So far, 852,047 people across the country have been vaccinated as at May 7. Meanwhile, the country has recorded 1,314 active cases and 783 deaths.
