Social media is awash with varied reactions to the ruling by an Accra High Court ordering Achimota School to enrol two Rastafarian students.
The School issued admission letters to the students but indicated that they could only be enrolled on condition that they trim their dreadlocks, in accordance with regulations.
With the new development, Tyron Iras Marhguy and Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea who sued the School’s Management, the Minister of Education, Ghana Education Service and the Attorney General over what they described as violation of their human rights, can further their education in their dream school-Achimota School.
According to the ruling read by Justice Gifty Addo, Achimota's rules cannot overide the fundamental human rights of the two students.
Few hours after the court's ruling, social media has been flooded with various sentiments either lauding the decision by Justice Gifty Agyei Addo or entreating the two young boys to ditch Achimota School.
A section also believes that the victory won by the Rastafarians today, will set a good precedent for similar circumstances in the nearby future.
Many also wonder if the legal team for Achimota School would file an appeal to the High Court to rescind its ruling.
The stakeholders of the Achimota School jettisoned GES decision to admit the Rastafarian, I hope they'll do same to the High Court?

80s no be 2020s o, we've evolved in so many ways.
The Rasta boy wins his case to be enrolled in #Achimota school but I bet you that boy would never be happy in that school. He dares not break any rule. I know African leaders

This Tyrone Marhguy case, low key might turn into a nightmare for him, as soon as he’s been admitted in the Achimota School.

The teachers and the authorities, will make life a living hell for him through his time on campus. Real stress 🤦🏿♂️
I think the Rastafarian boy should ditch Achimota School and then opt for either Yaa Asantewaa Girls or St Roses 🌹.
