Construction has taken off for Phase One of a 14-kilometre asphalt road from Nyankomase to Dawusaso in the Amansie South District Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
Funded by the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), and awarded to Prime Key construction limited, the project is expected to be completed in two years.
The project is one of the measures of the government to address the bad road network in the district.
District Chief Executive, Clement Opoku Gyamfi says the deplorable nature of roads is a big challenge in the area.
"Our roads have been in a deplorable state for many years and God being so good we are privileged to witness the asphalt road under the NPP government," he said.
According to Mr Gyamfi, all those affected by the construction would be duly compensated.
He entreats residents to contribute their quota to the development of the country.
Member of Parliament for Manso Adubia constituency, Yaw Frimpong Addo expresses excitement about the project.
"Since I grew up, there's no better roads in our area. There's no single kilometer of asphalt road and as this year is defined as the extension year of roads, Amansie south were given about five roads and all the contractors have commence on the road projects."
He mentions other ongoing projects in the constituency affected by the bad nature of roads.
Mr Addo promises to make the needs of the residents his topmost priority under the NPP government.
