The #FixTheCountry Campaigners and Economic Fighters League are accusing persons closely related to the MCE for Ejura Sekyeredumase, Mohammed Bamba, as the masterminds behind the alleged murder of one of their activists, Mohammed Kaaka Ibrahim.
They have served notice they will petition the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
The late Ibrahim Kaaka died after he suffered a head injury in an attack at Ejura on Saturday dawn.
Medical Doctor at the Ejura Government Hospital Dr Mensah Manye told JoyNews that Mohammed’s head injury was severe with internal bleeding.
The deceased was attacked by two assailants yet to be arrested by the police.
Speaking during a Facebook live session in remembrance of the #FixTheCountry activist, Fighter-General of the Economic Fighters League, Hardi Yakubu condemned the alleged killing of Ibrahim Kaaka Mohammed describing it as a heinous act of suppression.
“As we mourn the death of our brother, let’s remember there are many who are complicit in his murder. He was murdered by the rotten system and those who protect us,” he stressed.
He alleged a mob was behind the death of the late Ibrahim Kaaka Mohammed adding that they will not rest until justice is served for the dastardly act.
“The violent mob sent to silence Kaaka was the final act. A complaint has been lodged with the police. We intend to escalate it to the Inspector-General of Police because the police in Ejura are handling it like any other matter,” he charged.
A convenor of the #FixTheCountry Campaign, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, in a statement issued, lamented the death of Ibrahim Kaaka Mohammed pointing out that he was attacked by a mob for his #FixTheCountry-related activity.
According to him, they reported that Kaaka was attacked on the same day the police arrested other #FixTheCountry convenors in Accra on Friday, June 25, 2021.
“Kaaka received voice messages of threats being made on his life. In fact, there are voice recordings on which some persons known to be bodyguards to the MCE for Ejura Sekyeredumase, could be heard saying that activities of Kaaka on Facebook were making the governing NPP unpopular in the area and that every means possible must be used to stop him,” he explained.
He claimed that they have launched a formal complaint with the police but “they have taken no steps to interdict or event invite anybody for questioning over the murderous attack.”
When JoyNews contacted the MCE for Sekyeredumase, Mohammed Bamba, said if #FixTheCountry and Economic Fighters League have any information linking the death of Kaaka to the perpetrators, they should make such vital details to the police.
