Joy News investigation has uncovered how some officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) demand monies to allow illegal entry into the country through unapproved routes near the Aflao border.
The officers were filmed on camera receiving various sums of money from the travellers on these routes.
This is in spite of President Akufo-Addo’s announcement of the closure of land borders to limit the spread of Covid-19.
Joy News’ Kwetey Nartey reports that his team was never subjected to the regular checked when entering the country through an unapproved route.
Head of Ghana Immigration Service, Public Affairs Unit, Supt Michael Amoako-Attah said they will probe the evidence and punish errant officers if found culpable.
