A joint patrol team made of Immigration, Customs, Police, and Military officials has intercepted 741 slabs of suspected Indian hemp along the Ghana-Togo border in separate operations.
About 1,339 slabs were intercepted in a Toyota Mini Bus with a vehicle registration number, GG 2314-20 in the Klave border enclave in the Ho Central Municipality on Friday, while 608 slabs were found at Wli Todzi in a GN 5733 - 18 registered Toyota Hiace in the Hohoe Municipality on Sunday.

The suspected Indian hemp was being transported to neighbouring Togo when luck eluded the culprits, who absconded upon sensing danger.
The contrabands which have inscriptions on them, including “Boss”, “JK”, “SH”, and “3”, have since been handed over to the Narcotics Control Board for further investigation.
The Volta Regional Commander of the Immigration Service, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCI), Peter Claver Nantuo, Peter Clava Nantuo, called for stronger collaboration between the border security agencies to combat cross-border crimes.
He detailed that his officers would let relent in their efforts in ensuring contraband goods are not smuggled in or out of the country.
“If they will not stop that notorious activity and think that will because of survival and will want to give you and I sleepless nights, we carry the battle to their battlefield, and they will lose”, he cautioned.
