Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto has called out the club over the state of their Adako Jachie training facility which according to him doesn't befit a big club.
The Portuguese tactician replaced Johnson Smith as coach of the Porcupine but only managed a second place finish in the Ghana Premier League as rivals Hearts of Oak won the title. Kotoko have also exited the MTN FA Cup after losing on penalties against Berekum Chelsea.
Speaking after the defeat to Chelsea, Barreto bemoaned the state of the Adako Jachie training center, highlighting particularly the lack of a changing room and toilet facilities.
"For a big club like Kotoko, I can't fathom how our players come to training and have to go to toilet and urinate in the bush”.
"All the conditions we have are not proper for a professional club. We are training without adressing room. We are training without a single washroom.
It is unclear if Barreto who signed a year and half contract will remain in charge of Kumasi Asante Kotoko with many interpreting his call for better facilities as a sign of his unwillingness to stay on.
