Residents in Walewale in the North East Region have abandoned a health facility in the community due to the absence of a midwife five years after commissioning the facility.
According to them, the Daboya Health Centre also lack necessities, including water and sanitation materials.
Some of the residents who spoke to JoyNews said the facility isn't serving its purpose because expectant mothers still travel far to other communities to deliver.
Maternal death and complications, they fear, could surge in the area, especially as the rainy season sets in.
