Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, and his team have arrived in the Bono Regional capital, Sunyani to acquaint themselves with the murder of three persons in Alaska, a suburb of Abesim.

Reports by JoyNews' Precious Semevoh reveal that the residents of Abesim gathered at the Abesim Police station for the arrival of Dr George Akuffo Dampare despite the early morning rains.

He is expected to visit the bereaved family.

This follows the arrest of 28-year-old Richard Appiah, for allegedly killing two children.

Mr Richard Appiah is currently in the custody of the Police in Sunyani after body parts of a JHS 2 student, 15-year-old Stephen Sarpong were found in a double door fridge together with the lifeless body of the suspect's 12-year-old stepbrother, Louis, and another yet to be identified body.

According to the Police statement sighted by JoyNews, the victim’s father, 56-year-old Thomas Adjei, reported that the suspect, who is also his stepson, came for Louis around 5:30pm on Friday, August 20.

The acting IGP and his team were in a closed-door meeting at the Abesim Police station.

Already, the Acting Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), headquarters to provide technical support to the Bono Regional Department.

This will expedite investigation into the incident.

“The murder case involves one Richard Appiah, a 28-year-old architect, suspected to have murdered 12 and 15 years old young men and a yet-to-be-identified man whose bodies were found in his living quarters at Alaska, near Abesim, on Friday, August 20, 2021,” he said in a press statement.

Meanwhile, the father of the 15-year-old Stephen Sarpong, who was allegedly killed and his body butchered and stored in a double door fridge, has described the suspect, Richard Appiah as a friend and business partner.

Mr Yeboah Asuama said he could never have suspected his friend of committing such an atrocious act against him and his family when he spoke to the media on Saturday, August 21.

“The young man, truth be told, is my friend. It was only four days ago that he came to my house that – I also work with him, he’s a surveyor – he came to tell me that the land he was planning on developing had sand and blocks on it and he wanted me to sell it for him, so I did.

“Just yesterday, the young man came to my house to tell me that if he did not get the money by evening time, he would sell it to another person. And I told him I had already sold it and that the buyer would bring the money within the day.

“So that evening, I and a friend of mine took the money from the sales to his house and gave it to him. ¢150million in total, and he gave us a receipt. And he came to escort us home.”

“Never, never, never – I have heard of no such thing before, and I would have never suspected him. He used to cook and eat with my children. They were also friends."
