The Bono East Regional Minister, Kwesi Adu Gyan, has called on the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the region to enforce policies that would help in ensuring sanitation is improved across the region.
He made this call at a regional stakeholders forum held in Techiman and organised by the Graphic Communications Group in partnership with the Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
"The issue of sanitation is a shared responsibility. We all have a task to play and so I'll urge all of us here especially the media to intensify the education and sensitization which is much needed and that we should also as an Assemblies do our part by ensuring that sanitation laws are enforced to help make the Techiman Municipality and the entire region clean," he said.

He further expressed worry at the late start of a €15 million solid waste treatment facility for the region which is expected to solve the region's sanitation challenges, and tasked the MCE for Techiman, Mr. John Kofi Donyina to collaborate with the traditional council to fasten the processes involving the land acquisition for the project.
On his part, Regional Zoomlion manager, George Kwasi Manu elaborated the relevance of the forum and charged all to support the sanitation fight.
"The dialogue is focused on sharing ideas on how to make decisions or initiatives that would be geared towards keeping Ghana clean and as you witnessed, all participants were ready and happy for an occasion like this and as a partner, Zoomlion cannot do this alone, so we need all hands on deck to win this fight," he said.

He again noted that keeping the environment clean is a collective responsibility and residents have to complement by supporting the campaign through behavioural change.
"It is an obvious fact that sanitation is a way of life and for that matter, it must come from within the people so every individual had to get the understanding that we need a total behavioural change otherwise, all the efforts we are taking would not yield any results," he added.
