Teenage pregnancy remains a major challenge in Ghana as data from the annual Ghana Health Service (GHS) statistics on this is very alarming.
In the Central Region, 10,301 girls got pregnant in 2020, and in 2021, the reports from GHS suggest the trend was continuing.
Shockingly, this time, it is not only girls between the ages of 13 and 19 but girls between 10 and 13 years as well.
In 2020, about 110 girls were impregnated daily in the country while 13 teenage pregnancies were recorded every one hour, according to the data available.
According to the GHS, Ghana recorded 109,888 teen pregnancies with the lowest of the girls to be put in the family way being 10-year-olds.
Today, NewsFIle is dedicated to the disturbing issue of thousands of girls, mostly minors, being violated, impregnated and burdened.
The host, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his guest will examine both the 2016-2020 and 2020 figures of reported cases as released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

Holistically, the discussion centre on the socio-cultural, religious, economic, tradition/custom, legal etc factors and what the solutions should be.
The connected and larger issues of domestic violence generally, lack of shelters, medical tests and examination for victims, the poor state of the DV Fund and how to get attention for it etc.
Guests may also touch on a major issue of the week with comments, including Guinea coup, do or die, one teacher-one-laptop, etc.
