Newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side, Accra Lions kicked off their Division One League Super Cup campaign with a commanding 2-1 victory over Samartex in the early hours of Thursday.
The tournament which got underway on Wednesday continued with two games which featured Lions, Samartex, Real Tamale United and Berekum Arsenals.
Samartex got off to a flying start, grabbing the game’s opener in the second minute through Emmanuel Adu, who struck a well-taken free-kick to give his side the lead.
However, Accra Lions right-back Christopher Acheampong leveled things for the Zone III winners after a well-worked attack.
Lions, pressed and continued to search for their second of the game but saw their opportunities go begging. The promoted side were dominant after pegging level and could have capitalized on their chances before the break.
Following the return from recess, Evans Eenee reacted the quickest to a pass from strike partner Frederick Asante to put the home side of the day in the lead.
The game involving RTU and Berekum Arsenals produced five goals with the Tamale-based side winning by three goals to two.

Mohammed Yakubu gave RTU an early lead but their jubilations were short-lived as Amos Yeboah scored the leveler for Arsenals, moments after missing from the penalty spot.
With the first half break approaching, Amos Anim made it 2-1 for the Berekum outfit.
In the second period of the game, Fatawu Sayibu and Roland Frimpong scored in the 55th and 70th minute respectively to seal the win for RTU, who now go top of Group B ahead of the next round of games.
The competition continues on Friday with Tema Youth playing Bibiani Gold Stars while Skyy FC go head-to-head with Bofoakwa Tano.
