The Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi proved their mettle on Thursday when they passed the one-eighth stage of this year's National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The 'Disciples' were able to maintain their seeded status after they qualified for the quarter-final stage with a class of 51 points.
It was a neck and neck competition that saw a fierce rivalry between KASS and Odorgonnor SHS; but for Dzodze Penyi SHS, their presence was enough to give the race an exciting feel.
In round one, Odorgonnor SHS led with 19 points, Anglican SHS with 18 points and Dzosec with six points.
Anglican SHS took over in the second round by a six-point margin and gradually widened the gap to secure the landslide victory.

Unfortunately, none of the schools could win the Prudential Life NSMQ Star award worth Gh¢2,400.
Dzodze Penyi SHS, which had gone into the contest as the underdogs, mattered most in the final round as they answered three riddles correctly to win the GOIL Riddle Bonanza which, at this stage, is pegged at Gh¢1,200.
For the KASS contestants, the dream of keeping the NSMQ trophy in the Ashanti region is achievable. According to the students they are well-prepared to face city rivals Prempeh College in the next stage of the championship.
The quarter-final contests are set to begin on Friday, November 19.
