Sunyani SHS and Koforidua Sec. Tech. School’s (KSTS) dreams to progress to the next stage in the National Science Maths and Science Quiz (NSMQ) were dashed on Thursday after encountering formidable Sogakope SHS.
Securing 46 points at the end of today’s contest, Joel Kwame and Agbodeka Wonder, representing Sogakope SHS booked a slot at the quarter-final stage.
The two young boys gave their best to lead four out of the five rounds of the contest.

The Problem of the Day worth 10 points in Round Three was however the exception. In this round, KSTS managed to score 9 points. Both Sunyani and Sogakope SHS added 7 points to their tally.

It was a smooth contest for Sogakope SHS as its contenders could not put up a compelling fight to turn the tides in their favour.
This is the second time the school has progressed to the quarter-final stage since the beginning of the NSMQ contest in 1994.
Sogakope’s debut at the one-quarter stage was in 2015.
According to JoyNews’ Nana Yaw Gyimah, the school is hopeful of sustaining the gains made so far to emerge winners of the 2021 National Science and Naths Quiz.
