Paris, FRANCE – He may have come a fourth in the 2007 Ballon d’Or awards, but on Monday, Didier Drogba will be the main host of this year’s edition in the French capital.
The Ivorian football legend will team up with French football journalist Sandy Heribert to present the prestigious gala night that will have some of the biggest names in the sport gathered at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
Lionel Messi, six-time winner, and Megan Rapinoe are the holders of the men’s and women’s accolades, after their coronation in 2019. The following year, the award was not given after a season marked by Covid-19.
A reminder of the rules?
180 specialized journalists from all over the world cast a vote for the men’s Ballon d’Or, the same for the Kopa Trophy (best young player under 21 years) and the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper). While to decide the women’s Ballon d’Or, there will be a vote among 50 journalists specializing in women’s football.
How to follow it live in Ghana
The red carpet begins at 1750 GMT, but Joy Prime will begin its live TV broadcast from 1700 GMT.
While Drogba will be helming the international feed out of France, Nathaniel Attoh, Hans Mensah-Andoh and George Addo Jnr will be straddling the local coverage from the Joy Prime studios in Accra.
Online, this website will be carrying major updates while the Joy Sports Twitter account will also be providing photos, video and text updates.
