Six persons have been admitted at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital after being involved in a train crash.
According to eyewitnesses, the train crashed into an overspeeding tipper truck that refused to stop for the oncoming train; resulting in the injuries.
Reports indicate that the driver of the tipper truck had attempted to cross the railroad at top speed despite warnings that a manganese-bearing train was quickly approaching.
Eyewitnesses say injured persons including the driver of the truck and one other passenger, as well as the conductor of the train were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The incident comes just a few days after two trains were involved in a head-on-collision at Manso in the Mpohor District also in the Western Region resulting in the death of four passengers.
Minister for Railways Development, Peter Amewu says a committee will be set up to investigate what led to the head-on collision at Wassa Manso in the Mpohor district of the Western Region.
The Minister said this on Saturday during a visit to the accident scene to have first-hand information on what happened.
“We expect to put up a committee as quickly as possible. The head of my security team is with me, and we will investigate what caused this accident.
“Not too long ago, you heard that we lost one of our managers also in a train accident similar to this in Accra. So the industry is already not in the right mood for this to happen again. It’s quite unfortunate”.
