Honesty and integrity among Africans are still important elements for the continent's progress.
According to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, leadership will be essential in the search for development in the coming year.
The Asantehene speaking to 14th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi acknowledged the importance of leadership in the transformation of the African continent.
"Through the prayers, the whole of Nigeria, Ghana and Africa will be blessed, so that development and comfort and the knowledge of being honest and integrity with ourselves will be broadened and widened", he said.
He emphasized the role of religious leadership in seeking the desired development.
The 14th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, who doubles as Grand Khalifa of Tijjaniyya Order in Nigeria is in the Ashanti Region to lead Muslim prayers to end the year.

The prayer will focus on peace on the continent and discernment for the leadership.
He explains the purpose of the visit to Asantehene.
"We are praying for this country and other countries for peace. We are praying for our leaders for peace especially at this time that Africa is going through all sort of crisis economic, social, political and security", the Grand Khalifa emphasised.
The Grand Khalifa visited the Chief of Zongo in Ashanti Region, Sultan Umat Farouk Saeed, where he emphasized the need for zongo communities to invest in education in search of transformation.
