The Lands and Natural Resources Ministry has inaugurated a seven-member committee to spearhead the reconstruction of the Apeatse community.
Deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Benito Owusu-Bio will chair the committee with other members from various private and public sector institutions.
The six others include Director of Rural Housing at the Works and Housing Ministry, Sylvester Adjornu; Kwadwo Yeboah, from the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority and Charles Blankson Hemans from the Ghana Institute of Architects.
The rest are Nana Nuamah Kyei-Baffuor, Ghana Institute of Surveyors; Chief of Apeatse and Divisional Chief of Beppoh in the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Nana Atta Kwadwo Bremebi II.
Speaking at a brief inauguration ceremony, the Sector Minister, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, tasked the Committee to ensure the reconstruction of a sustainable community that can be emulated.
"The team is responsible to ensure that the community is built from the design through sourcing for a developer until such a time that it will be fully completed for the President to commission it. The President has instructed that this community should be green and sustainable. Therefore, everything to do with the design, construction, and eventual realization of the project must be anchored on a green and sustainable plan", he noted.
The chairman of the Apeatse Reconstruction Committee, Benito Owusu-Bio, also said the Committee will diligently execute its mandate.
"We are going to work diligently to ensure that we complete the project in record time. We are also going to ensure that whatever is built for them stands the test of time and is environmentally sustainable", he stated.
The government last week inaugurated the Apeatse Support Fund and established a five-member committee to manage the Fund. President Akufo-Addo has since made a personal donation of GH¢100,000 to the Apeatse Support Fund.
Chairperson of the Apeatse Support Fund Committee, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee on Wednesday, February 2, announced bank account details for the fund through which donations can be made.
"We didn’t want to receive any money when we didn’t have a bank account. So there were quite a number of people waiting. We need bank accounts.
"We cannot receive your money for you not to know where we are going to place it. So, we have got bank accounts now. One is at GCB Bank, and the other is at Stanbic Bank", she disclosed.
Rev. Aryee revealed that the account name is 'Apiatse Support Fund'; adding that persons can donate at GCB Bank with the account number 101130036123 and at Stanbic Bank, with the account number 9040009974967.
