The NPP after securing victory in the 2020 Presidential election has been looking forward to winning the 2024 election as well.
However, since the inception of the Fourth Republic, no political party has exceeded two tenures in office.

The ruling party, nonetheless, is determined to be the first party to achieve such a feat, hence, the mantra ‘Breaking the Eight.’
Many names, including that of Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, have popped as candidates qualified to help the ruling party achieve this aim.

Nonetheless, the Vice President has pledged to support the party attain victory in 2024 irrespective of who leads the party.
