The Police have arrested three individuals for possessing firearms without lawful authority.
On February 21, two targeted intelligence-led operations were conducted at Tema Community 25 and Dansoman.
At Tema Community 25, the first suspect, Abdul Razak, aged 46, was arrested.
In a Facebook post, the Service noted that a search conducted at his hideout led to the "retrieval of an AK47 assault rifle, 90 rounds of live AK47 ammunition, 4 rounds of 17mm ammunition, a machete and a rubber pistol."
At Dansoman, the two others, Hamza Yakubu and Mubarak Yakubu were apprehended by the officers.
Also, "a search conducted on them led to the retrieval of one pump action gun and a pistol."
According to the Service, the three suspects after their arrest were put before the court of law.
Meanwhile, the Service has reiterated its commitment to "continue conducting targeted intelligence-led operations to clamp down on criminals and also ensure illegal weapons are retrieved from the society."
To bolster this initiative, members of the public have been urged to provide the Police with information on criminal elements within their communities "for action" to be taken.
